Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Invites Media to Lockheed Martin Staging Area Where more than 600 Out-of-State Linemen Report Before Joining BGE Crews in 12–16 Hour Shifts of Electric Service Restoration Work

Nearly 300 additional linemen and support staff join the efforts, bringing the total number of BGE employees, contractors and out-of-state linemen engaged in restoration efforts to more than 5,000

Eastern Baltimore County location is one of four staging areas in use by BGE to coordinate restoration assignments for external personnel

WHY: More than 5,000 people are actively engaged in BGE’s electric service restoration effort, including approximately more than 1,500 linemen and support staff from several states including Alabama, Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and West Virginia. Many of these external resources were requested by BGE and arrived in Maryland several days in advance of Hurricane Irene’s arrival, positioning BGE to begin restoring electric service as soon as it was safe to do so.

Directions: Route 40 to Martin Blvd. Take Martin Blvd. directly to the parking lot. Trailers, utility trucks and a tent should be visible as you get closer to the location.
