She may be gone, but beloved entertainer Whitney Houston was hardly forgotten on what would have been her 49th birthday.

Cyberspace was alive on Aug. 9, and the day before, with well wishes aimed at the singer and actress, who died unexpectedly in February.

Actor and comedian Mike Epps posted several birthday messages on his Twitter account, saying, “When you paying homage to a legend, too much is too little.”

“Happy Birthday Whitney!!! Let your spirit sparkle!” added Epps, who co-starred with Houston in her last film, “Sparkle,” which opens in theaters Aug. 17.

Rap mogul Jay-Z urged his Twitter followers to spread the love. “Happy Birthday Whitney! Retweet this out of respect for the legend, Whitney Houston! R.I.P.,” he wrote.

Rihanna also joined the throng, saying, “Happy Birthday Whitney Houston! You will always be in my heart! #IWillAlwaysLoveYou.”

Singer Brandy Norwood, who paid tribute to her idol during this year’s BET Awards, praised Houston for her extraordinary voice. “Happy Birthday to the GREATEST VOICE OF ALL TIME!! Whitney Houston, you are the dream!!! You are the inspiration!! You are MY ANGEL!”

Television and radio personality Free posted this thought: “Today would be Whitney Houston's Birthday. Surely she's having "Cake in the Sky" #trulymissed.”

While most of the comments were positive, some made snide references to Houston’s drug addiction problem, which derailed her career and played a role in her death in a Beverly Hills hotel on the eve of the 2012 Grammy Awards.

“Happy Birthday Whitney Houston...Every-time I see cocaine I think about you,” posted Frat Boys of Comedy.

And a user called Billy Madison wrote, “Happy birthday Whitney Houston!!! 6 months drug free.”
